When Life Gets in the Way

biblewords Life has been pretty chill this last week which is perfectly fine with me—just hanging out and visiting with family! My husband and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary before he headed home last week! us2 I took Elaina to the zoo with my mom, aunt, and little cousin. She was more interested in the statues of animals than the real things haha! lion wolf We visited my Nana Jackie and Elaina got to see the infamous “Samantha” stuffed lion my grandmother has had for the last 30 years!  nana samantha When you live a long distance from home, it’s great to be around family. But one thing has been eating at me and it really hit when Liz texted me yesterday. She asked, “Have you been reading your bible?” She meant it in a loving way as a friend who is always there to remind me. Sadly I told her no. I’ve talked to my mom about this, and Liz and I have had many deep conversations about it as well— It always seems when life is going smoothly, we are farthest from God. In my darkest and most helpless moments I run to Him, yet can’t seem to give Him my first priority when everything is fine and dandy.  I hate this. And I really hate how God is put on the back burner when life gets in the way. pub_BibleFlag I’m thankful to have Liz hold me accountable and remind me to spend time in His Word.  I listen to Christian music a lot and this is one way I draw closer to Him, but it’s His Living Word that is more important. I’m not sure if you have similar struggles, but hopefully you have a friend or family member who can help hold you accountable.  My husband and I also try to remind one another. Now that we are across the country from each other for the next month we have more alone time so our goal is to read our Bibles each day.  Do you have a special way of remembering to put God first in your life? Praying you all have a wonderful 4th of July weekend! ALSO—I am so thankful to live in a country where I am FREE to worship God. I am super thankful to the men and women who serve and give me this freedom! Happy Independence Day Y’all! us Love,  Angie
