Living in Love

Is anyone else a little speechless with everything that’s been going on the last few weeks? It’s hard to post about the silly or simple things when we live in a world that often times is dark and weary.  I’m not an expert on politics or solving the world’s problems, but what I’ve been thinking of during the last few weeks is how precious life really is and how I can make my mark. Making a conscience decision about how to live my life–in … Continue Reading »

Solo Parenting

Our school year is up and running! It’s been a busy few weeks transitioning into new routines and different school environments, but thankfully, my girls are pretty flexible and have adjusted nicely to all the “newness” of the school year. It’s been on my mind for a while to write a little something about parenting– and in particular “single parenting.” As some of you know, our family spent most of the last school year separated. My husband took a new job about 2 … Continue Reading »

Seasons of Life

Y’all parenting is HARD. One thing I’ve been struggling with these last two years is who I am as a mom. I went from a Biochemistry degree, a Master in Education, teaching high school and coaching cheerleading, to cleaning up poop and puke all day… Before I go any further let me state for the record that I am NOT COMPLAINING about being a mom or where the Lord has led me!! I love my daughter and all those years I yearned for … Continue Reading »

Day in the Life of a One Year Old!

So this post may not be that exciting to some of you, but I wanted to share some activities in my daughter’s day and her typical schedule. This is just her general schedule. On days when we have bible study or decide to do something as a family, we are flexible and move things around. (Also, sometimes when I see other people’s schedules for their kids it makes me STRESSED OUT! I don’t want that to happen with you! I’ve learned that a … Continue Reading »

Be Kind

“Be Kind.” Those are the words I wrote on our kitchen chalkboard the other morning. Originally, the purpose of those words were meant to remind my girls to be kind—they really struggle throughout the day to share, be polite, show self-control, be gentle and not whine. I’m guessing most 2 and 4-year-old sisters struggle with this throughout their days. But anyways, in my mind, my girls really need to work on their kindness and sometimes ugly moments. Yesterday morning, I saw an ugly moment … Continue Reading »

Mom Struggles

Do you ever have those moments where you just feel like you can’t do anything right? That’s how I felt last night and have been feeling for the past couple of weeks actually. Specifically when it comes to PARENTING. Being a mom has been the most challenging job I’ve ever had…that includes teaching and coaching moody and emotional (not all of them!) high school teenagers!  Since I stopped working, measuring myself as a mom is the only kind of real achievement I reach these … Continue Reading »

Post Holiday Blues

So the holidays are over and it’s a new year! I don’t know about you, but I always seem to go into a little post holiday slump. I’m not sure if it’s the let down of all the excitement and activities or family heading back home, but I’m telling you it’s ROUGH. We had a sick little babe all through Christmas and New Years. She’s been sick before, but this was the first big sickness we’ve had. I felt like I was taking … Continue Reading »
