Locally Grown

Well if you heard me vent the other week about being a mom, a lot of my physical exhaustion right now can be attributed to a positive thing…We’re expecting baby #2 mid July!  I’ve wanted to share the news with you all for awhile, since I talked about our failed embryo transfer back in October in a post here. (If you don’t know our story–we had our daughter through IVF and stored the other successful embryos back in Texas where they were all … Continue Reading »

Family, Flying, & Fears

My daughter and I spent the last week back in Ohio with family. I needed to just get away for awhile. Unfortunately my husband couldn’t come because of work so he drove us half way and my mom met us half way. Let’s just say this— the drive was TERRIBLE! Traffic was bad, the baby had lots of meltdowns, and I was beyond stressed.  Anyways once we got to Ohio it was so good to just relax. We didn’t do anything exciting—just saw family and … Continue Reading »

The Power of a Testimony

Happy Friday! Hope everyone is ready for the weekend–I’m heading home to see family and am already thankful for the next few days ahead.   Today, I’m sharing a powerful video I used to show my high school students. The video is really for anyone, but high school is especially a difficult time for so many kids. I was lucky enough to teach at a Christian school where I could freely share and talk about God’s love. Teaching in public school for a few … Continue Reading »

Post Holiday Blues

So the holidays are over and it’s a new year! I don’t know about you, but I always seem to go into a little post holiday slump. I’m not sure if it’s the let down of all the excitement and activities or family heading back home, but I’m telling you it’s ROUGH. We had a sick little babe all through Christmas and New Years. She’s been sick before, but this was the first big sickness we’ve had. I felt like I was taking … Continue Reading »

Hope for this Christmas

Liz and I took the kids to the mall this week to see Santa. It was kind of a surreal moment for me because so many Christmases have come and gone where I didn’t think I would ever have a child to take to see Santa. My little one seemed to tolerate Santa (I doubt that will happen next year!). I’m really trying to enjoy everything this Christmas season, to really cherish E’s first Christmas. That’s not to say the normal stress of … Continue Reading »

Finding Joy

My husband and I recently watched the new Pixar film Inside Out. We really enjoyed it. We’re both suckers for kids’ movies (Tangled is seriously my husband’s favorite movie). At the end of the movie we were both a little choked up; he says he was fine, but I know he had a few tears! There were a couple things about the movie that really hit home with me. First, seeing a little girl grow up made me think of my sweet baby … Continue Reading »

How Much More

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him.” –Matthew 7:9-11   As Angie and I begin this adventure into the blogging world, I can’t help but pump the breaks of my heart for a moment and really let … Continue Reading »
