When you have a best friend down the street with a daughter who turns one only a couple weeks before your little one, it makes planning a 1st birthday a whole lot EASIER and CHEAPER!!
I decided to plan a “Spring” themed party for my daughter’s first birthday seeing how it was only a few days before Easter. I figured the decorations would look great for both. Two parties in one!
I used lots of colored streamers and balloons and like I said, I borrowed most of the stuff from Liz!! I purchased a few spring/Easter things from Hobby Lobby, but I can use those next year as well!
Overall, it was an easy party to decorate for! My family was able to come into town along with Liz and her husband and girls which made the party even more special! We kept the food simple and enjoyed time together!
My sister and I took on the challenge of making my daughter’s smash cake! We used a giant cupcake mold Liz had and added some flowers with colored frosting! This was the FIRST REAL CAKE I’ve ever decorated and I was pretty happy with it! Especially for the price! My daughter definitely enjoyed the frosting!!
It was a wonderful day and I’m glad we kept it simple. Celebrating with family and friends was memorable and the most important part of all!
