Moving Out & Making a Coffee Table

Hi Everyone! I’m Kayla and I am Angela’s youngest sister! I’ve obviously known Angela my whole life and since her and Liz have been friends since elementary school I’ve pretty much known Liz my whole life too! I’m so excited and thankful they are letting me be a part of their blog today! Two years ago, at the ripe old age of 22, I moved out of my parents house for the first time— this was a HUGE step for me! Once I … Continue Reading »

DIY Sliding Barn Door

I’ve been telling my husband for awhile now that I wanted a barn door into the entryway of our master bathroom. These kind of doors look super cool. But more importantly, they allow for more space in our bathroom. The old door swung into the bathroom so it just made the bathroom feel a little crowded. (See picture below of our bedroom doors before we moved in. Bathroom door is on the right.) I came across barn door plans from Jenna Sue Design Co. … Continue Reading »

Easy To Make Wall Decor

What’s better than spending part of the summer with family and having your mom around to tackle a fun DIY project?! The other day, my mom and I were window shopping at a local antique store and I came across a really pretty wreath. My mom is definitely craftier than me and also likes “projects” a touch more than me too. (just ask my 5 year-old about her and Mimi’s special projects—they have like a million.) One of the reasons I liked this … Continue Reading »

When You Just Can’t Part With Your Favorite Tee

I finally finished the tee shirt blanket I’ve told my husband I was going to make for the last 5 years! Just needed a little help from my mom!  I am by no means a seamstress— the last thing I made was a pair of boxer shorts in 8th grade home ec lol! I can basically hem and dart pants and sew on a button. I knew if I had a little guidance though I could make a tee shirt blanket. Thanks to my … Continue Reading »

Simple & Cheap Kitchen Backsplash DIY

Almost 2 years ago we moved into our new home knowing that we DID NOT want a lot of “projects.” With our first home, we gave it a nice “makeover.” We also have a lot of friends who have bought homes and have redone most of the interior—all which is super fun! But for us, when we were house shopping in Georgia, we were looking for an updated, low maintenance home. Why? 1) my husband is a resident and works/studies super long hours … Continue Reading »

Our Little Getaway to Platform 9 3/4

My husband and I just got back from a long weekend getaway! It was our first trip together since our honeymoon 8 years ago—partially because I have anxiety about traveling and also because we had our daughter a year ago.  Anyways, we are super nerdy and have been DYING to go to Harry Potter World! So we took advantage of all the great military discounts and decided to go to Universal Studios in Orlando! We had SO much fun! Just hanging out, sleeping … Continue Reading »

What’s Up Thursday

The other day, Angie and I were together and like we often do, we were talking about our blog and some new post ideas. I had mentioned to her that I wanted to write a certain “how to” post, but I wasn’t sure if I had all of my ducks in a row or if I had actually mastered this certain “how to” perfectly myself to post about it. Thankfully with her wisdom, Angie reminded me that we should share/write/post about the things … Continue Reading »

Yard Crashers…in progress

With the warm weather and sunny days lately, my husband and I have been on a DIY frenzy. Specifically with our backyard (front yard is next!) I’m not gonna lie to you, with our last backyard, I seriously tried to apply to Yard Crashers! The yard was HORRIBLE when we moved in. But by the time we moved out 3 years later, my husband had turned it into our own little paradise.  So with that, I completely trust him with our current yard! … Continue Reading »

Sound Sleep: Tools to Help EVERYONE sleep!

So as the summer months approach it seems to be sunnier and brighter outside which I love! However, the sun and bright light is not so great for naps. Blackout curtains are great, but they seem to be limited in style.  Enter…BLACKOUT CURTAIN liners! You can turn any curtains into blackout curtains with these things! I found them at Home Depot and we have a set in both our bedroom for my husband’s shift work, and of course our daughter’s room for her … Continue Reading »

Spring Themed First Birthday!

When you have a best friend down the street with a daughter who turns one only a couple weeks before your little one, it makes planning a 1st birthday a whole lot EASIER and CHEAPER!! I decided to plan a “Spring” themed party for my daughter’s first birthday seeing how it was only a few days before Easter.  I figured the decorations would look great for both. Two parties in one! I used lots of colored streamers and balloons and like I said, I … Continue Reading »
