A Favorite Hometown Salad & More!

We made it to Ohio, and yesterday my husband, daughter, and I stayed pretty busy! We headed out after breakfast to the mall to walk around and see how everything has changed. Then we stopped by to visit my youngest sister at work.

Aren’t they so sweet?!

We had some lunch and then went to our old high school stomping grounds! When we walked in, I told the office lady we were just visiting to see the place after graduating 12 YEARS AGO! Ah! She made my day by saying “Are you sure you didn’t graduate this year?!” haha!

Anyways, it was fun to walk around the building that holds so many memories for us. And its crazy how different our high school looks after 12 years.

After a trip down memory lane–we drove out to my mom’s work so she could show off her granddaughter to all her co-workers!

Now, really what this post is mostly about is one of my favorite salads, and it’s a Northwest Ohio classic…Betty’s Salad!

My mom has kept my nana Jackie’s handwritten recipe from who knows how long ago!

If you live in the area you can buy the Betty’s salad dressing from local grocery stores. I sent my husband out to get the dressing from a favorite local store and told him to take a selfie…OBVIOUSLY this is not his thing, lol!! This picture cracks me up!!

The dressing is pretty easy to throw together from scratch though and the salad ingredients are pretty flexible to change up however you want. Spinach and/or lettuce, bean sprouts (the fresh ones are best!), bacon bits, hard boiled eggs, and optional croutons make up this yummy salad! Like I said, you can make the dressing homemade or find it in the stores.

The salad went great with another hometown favorite for dinner, AMIE’S PIZZA!!

A little candid family shot! I love spending time with these crazy people!

We topped off the evening with none other than our favorite MR. FREEZE ice cream. Pizza, ice-cream and a delicious salad— made the day in our hometown pretty perfect!

If you are looking for a new, delicious salad to pair with your next dinner, give this one a try!
