Gifts That Give Back 2015
This year Liz and I tried to buy gifts that had meaning behind them. Not that every gift doesn’t have meaning; we more so wanted to find gifts from companies that gave back in some way. I would have posted this before Christmas, but I didn’t want to give any gifts we got for others away! Hopefully you can use the list throughout this upcoming year! Cuddle + Kind Dolls From their website: “cuddle+kind is a social endeavour created by Jennifer and Derek Woodgate … Continue Reading »

Healthy between the Holidays– Stir Fry
Without exaggerating, I completely “binge” ate over the last few days– Christmas cookies, homemade mac & cheese, ham, breakfast croissants, the list goes on and on. I’m sure you feel me… News Years is right around the corner too, where we will celebrate and probably “binge” again. So since all the cookies and Christmas leftovers are gone and we have this “in between” time as I like to call it…I am trying to keep it on the healthy side. Typically once a week … Continue Reading »

Christmas
Each year, Christmas becomes a little bit clearer to me. It means more. It changes and deepens my faith. And the same words of the same story I’ve heard all my life, strike a different chord and tug my heart in a new way…all for the first time. Family is near. Love is given freely. And for many, there is a sense of anticipation and renewal in this special day. In general, I am a big rule follower. So its really easy … Continue Reading »

Hope for this Christmas
Liz and I took the kids to the mall this week to see Santa. It was kind of a surreal moment for me because so many Christmases have come and gone where I didn’t think I would ever have a child to take to see Santa. My little one seemed to tolerate Santa (I doubt that will happen next year!). I’m really trying to enjoy everything this Christmas season, to really cherish E’s first Christmas. That’s not to say the normal stress of … Continue Reading »

Gender Neutral Nursery on a Budget
One of my favorite places in our house is my daughter’s nursery. It is so peaceful and calming to me. We did not know if we were having a boy or a girl so I tried to keep the décor as neutral as possible. The dresser and armoire were both repurposed. The armoire was my husband’s back in high school and I can’t believe I almost got rid of it! I am so glad I didn’t! The dresser is a craigslist find I … Continue Reading »

Easy Chicken Parmesan
Angie and I made this recipe the other night, which was fun to share together! In general, I like recipes that require simple ingredients and are still delicious. This recipe does just that and is good for a crowd too. It could be a Christmas Eve dinner idea or holiday meal while you have family in town. You also could incorporate veggies to the pasta (spinach) for some more color and nutrition! This recipe is worth the 3 or 4 dishes (not so … Continue Reading »

3 Chalk Activities To Do Today
Its warm here for a December day in Georgia–like almost 80 degrees! But I also know back home in Ohio, friends and family are having some unseasonably warm weather this weekend too! (60 degrees—which definitely beats -20!) We did this after lunch today–for like 30 minutes (that’s pretty good for the attention spans in our house!) …and everyone was entertained! (including the baby giggling at her sisters from the wagon) Using chalk, draw shapes to make one big circle. (alternatives to shapes could be … Continue Reading »

Finding Joy
My husband and I recently watched the new Pixar film Inside Out. We really enjoyed it. We’re both suckers for kids’ movies (Tangled is seriously my husband’s favorite movie). At the end of the movie we were both a little choked up; he says he was fine, but I know he had a few tears! There were a couple things about the movie that really hit home with me. First, seeing a little girl grow up made me think of my sweet baby … Continue Reading »
